We’ve been in love with this series of finger puppet books since they first started coming our way from the Netherlands last year. The incredibly expressive finger puppets inside the book allow you to have fun while reading. Sure to be a hit with any 1 - 2 year old (or with 30-year-olds, truth be told.). They are many animals to choose from: Little Mouse, Little Cow, and Little Spider, to name just a few!
Marjorie the cow doesn’t feel very special. She can’t ride bicycles or do cartwheels like the other cows. But one morning, Marjorie is astonished to discover something extraordinary… SHE’S LAID AN EGG! But does the baby inside really belong to Marjorie? Emotions run high in the farmyard as everyone waits to find out. This is a fun story about unique cows and unique families.
The Fancy Nancy picture books are great vocabulary builders, so it’s only natural that author O’Connor start writing Nancy into I Can Read books. Nancy’s class is going on a trip to the museum. Even after a bumpy bus ride, Nancy finds a way to make the day extra-fancy!
You literally can’t go wrong with Gordon Korman. Here’s the gist: Griffin Bing finds a very rare and valuable baseball card, but a collector named Swindle tricks him out of the card. Griffin and his friends have to find a way to overcome a menacing guard dog, a high-tech security system, a very secret hiding place, and the fact that none of them can drive in order to get that card back. Fast-paced and adventurous!
The absolutely fabulous young adult novel by Alexie Sherman that blew us all away, here at Greenwoods’ Small World. Arnold Spirit is a not-so-popular kid lamenting life on a Spokane reservation. He gets the opportunity to study off-rez at a school for rich kids and must try to blend into the life there while not setting off too many sparks back at home. A side-splittingly funny look at some very serious topics. We cannot stress how much we loved it.
We here at Greenwoods’ have been chomping at the bit to get the sequel to the fast-paced and darkly written City of Bone. We got an advanced look at it and it’s even better than the first book! When the Silent Brothers are murdered and the second of the Mortal Instruments is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor is sent to investigate. Clary Fray is still trying to get used to life as a Shadowhunter, but with the Inquisitor after her brother Jace and a romance with her best friend Simon starting to heat up, can life ever be normal again?
